About the American Patriots Campaign

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation initiated the American Patriots Campaign in 2006 to raise $50 million over the next 5 years in order to achieve certain objectives:

1. We have met one of our intermediate goals by increasing the average annual scholarship award to more than $3,000 per year.
   
2. We have increased the Heroes Tribute Scholarship Award  to $30,000 for every child of a Marine, and every child of a Navy Corpsman serving with the Marines, whose parent is killed in the Global War on Terror.  The magnitude of this commitment will not be fully realized as long as the War on Terror continues and the number of eligible children continues to grow.
   
3. We continue to build the foundation’s capacity to sustain the growth of revenues in order to increase the financial value and number of its scholarships.

The need to raise additional funds, in effect doubling the annual revenues to the foundation, is driven by the increasingly higher costs of higher education, the continuation of the Global War on Terror and the Foundation’s desire to provide more meaningful assistance to the eligible children of Marines.
